1894/95 saw Sheppey enter formalised league football for the first time and the rest of the decade saw the club in league competition with some of the elite clubs of the South at the time, some of these clubs are now amongst the most well known clubs in the country including Tottenham Hotspur, Fulham, Portsmouth, Southampton, QPR, West Ham United, Swindon Town, Gillingham, Bristol City, Bristol Rovers, Millwall, Reading, Brentford and Wycombe Wanderers.
