Welcome to the official website of Sheppey United Football Club
The club's new badge design that incorporates the names of the 2 clubs that merged to form Sheppey United in 1890.
Winter Break
The Kent County League is currently on it's winter break with league games due to resume this Saturday. Sheppey are due to play Milton & Fulston United at Sittingbourne's pitch no 1.
Change Of Management
Given the club's poor run of form that has seen them slip to 10th place in the league, it was felt that a change of management was needed. Stuart Davidson has been relieved of his duties with Steve Reid taking up the role of manager. With Steve's experience of local and county league football it is hoped that Sheppey can start moving up the league and perhaps challenge for promotion this season.
Lack Of Website Updates
I would like to apologise for the lask of website updates recently. I have been having some health issues recently that prevented me frpm maintaining the site but am hopefully past those now. Luckily, my health issues coincided with the KCL's Wintder break so the site wasn't that out of date.
Sheppey United 2-4 Bromley Green
Sheppey's recent run of poor form unfortunately continued on Saturday with a 4-2 home defeat to Bromley Green that sees Sheppey drop to 9th in the table.
"Who are they going to raise next - Lazarus?"
I hope you don't mind my borrowing a line from the film "Seabiscuit" but it seems we wrote off the Ites too soon.
After 2 years playing under the name AFC Sheppey, the club have decided to return to playing as Sheppey United. It seems I, for one, was just a tad too pessimistic in writing off Sheppey United. We are lazarus indeed!!
There have been number of changes at the club with the return to playing as Sheppey United which will be detailed in the Latest News section as soon as possible.
Amongst these are:-
New manager
New committee for running the football side of the club
New club badge (see picture to the left)
A return to the club's traditional colours
New ground for the coming season with a more permanent home to follow for 2011/2012 being lined up
The club will be taking up AFC Sheppey's place in the Kent County League Division 1 East for the coming campaign.
New Official Website
Amongst the changes at the club, your's truly has been asked to run the club's official website and change this unofficial one to be the club website. This I have been more than happy to agree to so, from now on, Sheppey United Club Website will be the club's official website. It will take a little time to make all the necessary changes to the website given there's a couple of hundred or so pages but the first ones to be changed over will be the Fixtures, Tables and Top Scorers page.

Club History Updated
I
have updated the site a bit by adding all the remaining league
tables from when Sheppey were last in the Southern League and
these tables can be found by visiting the "Club History" page
plus another profitable trip to the local library means I now
have got all of the league tables for the 1930's and the 1950's
online. In addition to this, 2 league tables from the 1990's,
another 1 from the 1960's has been added as well as 2 from
the 1900's and 1 from the 1920's from Sheppey's time in the
old Kent League. I now have, if I've done my maths correctly,
league tables from 86 of the 110 years available online since
Sheppey started competing in formalised league football in
1895.
This has now been supplemented with Chris Collings,
a Dover Athletic supporter, having provided me with all the Kent
League Tables from 1895-1978. I was able to add league tables for
1907-1914, 1920, 1926, correct 1946 and add the tables for 1973-1975
plus, with some scans that Chris also sent me, 1981, 1982 and 1994-1997
have been added thanks to Chris' help! Many thanks Chris, your
help is very much appreciated. Chris has also offered to try and
help me fill in the blanks for years 1967-1971 when Sheppey were
in the Metropolitan League. These 5 years are the only years now
where I don't have an end of season league table for Sheppey. The
end is in sight!
The tables for 1967-1971 have now been acquired.
I received an e-mail from Graham Allison last night who said that
he had these tables and offered to send them to me. These duly
arrived this morning and have now been typed up and put online.
Many thanks, Graham.
Then it's onto putting all of Sheppey's league and
cup results online. After that, I'll try and add
all the goalscorers for each competitive game played to the page
for each individual season. Should I ever achieve this herculean
task, I'll try and get friendly games covered as well.

More Photos Online
2
more photos have been added to my collection of Sheppey photos.
The one I am most pleased at getting hold of is a teamshot of
Sheppey from 1893 with the Chatham and Rochester Charity Cup which
the team won that season. The photo has been added to the section
dealing with that era in the club history section. I have also
acquired a teamshot from the Greater London League Championship
winning team of 1964/65 which is also online as is a match shot
from the 19th century. I have another team shot online but am unsure
which year it is from. I have added it to the Club
History page if anyone wants to have a look and put
a year - and maybe some names to faces - for me.
Well, thanks to the goalkeeper at the time Dave Smith, I have just received a photo of the 1974-75 Kent League winning team on the night the team were presented with the trophy at Botany Road. I will be adding that to the website just as soon as I can.
Revamp of Site Design
I
have decided to have yet another revamp of the site's appearance
after deciding to re-launch the website after taking it offline
for a few months. Hopefully you'll think it's an improvement over
the previous design I used for the website even though I've only "tweaked" the
appearance rather than have a major redesign. I'll be looking
to continually improve the look and feel of the website on an
ongoing basis. I'm hope you will like the improvements that I
have made.
